At the end of the fifties the Alber family sold the much sought-after nylons in their parents general store in Lana.
Two of the eleven children, Herbert and Walter Alber, finally decided to start a wholesale trade in these products in a 20m2 size room. The young businessman discovered a manufacturer in Lombardy from whom they collected the goods themselves in a Fiat 500, their first company car.
With the formation of a limited partnership in 1972 and the accession of two other brothers, the Alber family set their sight on a successful future. In the industrial area of Lana the new company built a modern warehouse and three offices on a 3.200m2.
In 1973 the Alber family decided to penetrate the market with their own brand name of “alber’s”, and also started to manufacture hosiery themselves. At the beginning of the 80s a limited shareholding company was established which, because of increased turnover, continued to grow in size at the Lana head office base: the office department was extended to two storeys and the storage capacity doubled. In the meantime the much sought after “alber’s” products could also be obtained in the north Italian region of Veneto. Over the last three decades the “alber’s” brand opened up new sales territories in North, Central and South Italy. The export business, too, in the neighbouring European countries developed marvellously over a span of about 20 years. Quality a solid pricing policy and market-oriented product innovation was then, as now, the basis for the Alber enterprise which has remained, as ever, a genuine family business.
